Eagles’ DT Malik Jackson to miss the remainder of season with foot injury

The Philadelphia Eagles biggest free-agent acquisition will miss the remainder of the season with a Lisfranc injury according to Mike Garafolo. Ian Rapoport and Garafalo are reporting that Malik Jackson will have surgery next week after being carted off against the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

The loss of Jackson is a significant one. The Eagles were counting on Jackson to provide a running mate with Fletcher Cox that could free up the All-Pro from the constant double teams. Even on Sunday against the Redskins, Jackson showed traits of the ability to be dominant while lined up next to Cox.

The injury Jackson suffered, also known as Lisfranc fracture, is an injury to the foot in which one or more of the metatarsal bones are displaced from the tarsus.

Former Oklahoma All-American and current Ravens wideout, Hollywood Brown, suffered the same injury last season during the Big 12 title game. Brown had surgery in February and was able to be ready for Baltimore’s season opener two days ago.

As for how it will affect Fletcher Cox and the rest of the defensive line.

The Eagles have Hassan Ridgeway on the roster as well, along with Bruce Hector on the practice squad. The Eagles could give Chris Long a call as well as veteran free agents like Muhammad Wilkerson or Anthony Rush from the Raiders practice squad.
