Eagles’ Doug Pederson not concerned about Malcolm Jenkins skipping OTAs

With Malcolm Jenkins absent from the start of Eagles organized team activities, head coach Doug Pederson is taking the diplomatic approach with his star safety, saying all the right things in support of Malcolm Jenkins. Jenkins contractually doesn’t have to appear until minicamp from June 11-13.

With Jenkins absent over a possible contract dispute, Doug Pederson tried to take some of the concern away while meeting with reporters.

“Obviously as you guys know i’m not going to get into the interpersonal conversations we’ve had,” Pederson said. “It is a voluntary program and Malcolm is one of those guys who is a leader of our football team. I’m not concerned with him. We’re going to keep our focus on the guys who are here and get better today.”

When asked if the team had communicated with Jenkins since the start of offseason workouts, Pederson again played things close to the vest.

“These guys are pros,” Pederson said. “They understand their bodies they understand that when they are here they’re ready to play and ready to go. He’s a guy that I don’t have any concerns or worries about.”

Jenkins has made the Pro Bowl in three of the last four seasons and hasn’t missed a game since signing with the Eagles while playing every snap in 2018.
