Eagles DL Joe Ostman carted off from open practice with knee injury

Joe Ostman was having a strong training camp and is coming off a first week and a half where he was the talk of defensive meeting because of his motor and wreaking havoc during practices. The Eagles held there only open practice of training camp on Sunday, and one hour into it, Ostman had to be carted off with an injury.

Ostman, who was hurt during a special teams drill, had earned the praises of Eagles coach, who were working diligently to find a place for him in the rotation, even as a standup pass rusher. Ostman’s injury comes just one day after the Eagles lost linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill to a Grade 3 MCL sprain, which should keep him out about 8 weeks.
