Eagles’ DeSean Jackson won’t return this week to haunt Giants

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson will not be on the field this week to ruin another holiday season for New York Giants fans.

Jackson is still in injured reserve and will not be eligible to return until the postseason, should the Eagles qualify, which they will do with a win over Big Blue on Sunday.

Jackson, the 33 year-old Giant killer, has been on IR since undergoing core muscle surgery in early November. He has appeared in only three games this season after starting the year with an eight-catch, 154-yard, two touchdown performance in Week 1 against Washington.

Jackson has played 18 games against the Giants in his career. He’s caught 69 passes for 1,109 yards (16.07 yards per reception) with six touchdowns ad rushed eight times for 30 yards and another score.

But what Giant fans will always remember most about Jackson is his 65-yard punt return for a touchdown on December 19, 2010 to beat the Giants, 38-31, with no time left on the clock.

The touchdown capped off a spree of 28 unanswered points by Philadelphia in the final 7:28 to erase a 31-10 Giants’ lead. The loss would cost the Giants the NFC East title and prevented the Giants from qualifying for the NFC Playoffs.
