Eagles’ Dallas Goedert, Lane Johnson not expected to play in remaining preseason games

The Nate Sudfeld effect is trickling down the Eagles locker room, with Doug Pederson and company deciding to be proactive and cautious with two of the team’s stars. According to Jeff McLane of The Inquire starting right tackle Lane Johnson and tight end Dallas Goedert are being shut down for the preseason.

Johnson (knee) and Goedert (calf) have previously been classified as “week-to-week” and Eagles brass seems uncomfortable risking further injury over meaningless games.

Johnson sat out the Eagles preseason loss to the Titans and has been seen sporting a brace on his knee. Goedert for his part caught three passes for 50 yards on 12 total snaps.

Jordan Mailata will look to capitalize on the playing time at right tackle in place of Johnson, while at tight end, Richard Rodgers, Will Tye, Josh Perkins, and Alex Ellis will get the bulk of the reps.
