Eagles could play in Mexico in 2020 as road team vs. NFC West opponent

The Philadelphia Eagles have some of the best fans in the NFL, and they travel well, taking over stadiums all across the country.

How the Eagles fans travel outside of the country could be answered next season, when they could candidate to face an up and coming NFC West team in Mexico City.

During his Wednesday press conference in Miami at the Super Bowl, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced there will be a game played at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City in both 2020 and 2021.

The details of when and who the teams will be should be announced in the next sixty days, but ESPN’s John Sutcliffe is reporting that the Arizona Cardinals will be one of the home teams in 2020.

Their opponent is not yet clear.

The Cardinals have eight home opponents scheduled for 2020, and the Philadelphia Eagles are one of them.

With the NFL wanting to put star power on display at Azteca Stadium, there are several options for Roger Goodell to pair with Kyler Murray and the rising Cardinals.

The Rams, 49ers, Seahawks, Eagles, and Bills all have stars at quarterback and are playoff-caliber opponents for the matchup.

With the NFL using travel and fatigue as a factor, they could choose to keep in the NFC West, choosing from among the Rams, Seahawks or 49ers as the opponent.

The appeal of an Eagles-Cardinals matchup would center around the two quarterbacks and the fans of the opposing team.
