Eagles coach Doug Pederson says Carson Wentz has 'stress injury' that could take three months to heal

PHILADELPHIA _ Eagles coach Doug Pederson said Friday that quarterback Carson Wentz "has a stress injury" in his back that could take as long as three months to heal, but will not require surgery.

Pederson wouldn't say when Wentz's injury occurred. He called Wentz "questionable" for this Sunday's game at Los Angeles against the Rams.

Pederson said Wentz's injury "evolved," but again he declined to be specific. Pederson said the diagnosis of a stress injury came after tests on Tuesday.

Pederson said the problem is not related to Wentz's previous injury.

He said he could see how another significant injury so quickly could look like a "red flag" to observers, looking at the plans for Wentz's career.
