There were a lot of huge moves made in the NFC East this offseason from coaching changes to player additions.
NFL.com recently did a post-free agency break down of the division and assessed the biggest loss, a breakdown of each team and the biggest addition.
Not surprisingly, Darius Slay’s arrival in Philadelphia was the biggest move.
So, can “Big Play” Slay end Philly’s positional plague? The Eagles sent Detroit a third- and a fifth-round pick in exchange for Slay then gave the 29-year-old cornerback a three-year, $50 million contract extension. Slay is reunited with the coach who drafted him, former Lions head man/current Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, and the veteran CB’s presence should allow Schwartz to employ more man coverage. Traveling with opposing WR1s is an ability Slay takes great pride in.
Slay brings a ton of confidence and swagger to Philadelphia, something the Eagles have lacked at cornerback since Asante Samuels was traded away.
His ability to flourish in man to man coverage should finally allow Jim Schwartz to utilize his entire arsenal of defensive schemes.
