West Coast have given a strong indication about their AFL premiership aspirations for 2022, re-signing veteran duo Shannon Hurn and Josh Kennedy on one-year contracts.
The Eagles missed the finals this year for the first time in seven seasons, finishing ninth with a 10-12 record, and detractors have tipped them to continue sliding down the ladder.
But there is no indication of a major list rebuild just yet, with 34-year-old pair Hurn and Kennedy backed to play significant roles during the next campaign.
They have endured injury setbacks in recent seasons but Eagles coach Adam Simpson is confident the pair of 2018 premiership stars can still have an impact.
Defender Hurn was limited to 15 games because of soft tissue injuries last year but played enough to move past Dean Cox as West Coast's all-time games record holder.
In July, the former captain, who led the 2018 flag side and has since handed over the reins to Luke Shuey, became the first Eagle and just the third WA-based player to reach 300 AFL games.
Dual Coleman Medal winner Kennedy has been West Coast's leading goalkicker seven times and holds the record for most goals in club history (675) after crossing from Carlton as part of the Chris Judd trade.
Xavier O'Neill has also signed a new deal with West Coast, tying him to the club until the end of 2023.
The 21-year-old midfielder has played 13 AFL games and is seen as a key cog in the Eagles' future.
