Eagles almost tagged Nick Foles to stop him from going to Redskins

It doesn’t seem like the Washington Redskins were ever going to sign Nick Foles.

Don’t tell that to the Philadelphia Eagles, who just admitted they thought about tagging Foles to make sure he didn’t go somewhere else in the NFC East, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Foles ended up with the Jacksonville Jaguars on a contract that could be worth more than $100 million. But it is clear the Eagles valued Foles enough to dish him a monster tag in order to prevent them from having to line up against him twice a year.

It’s an interesting bit of insight into the offseason quarterback carousel, to say the least. After Foles inked a new deal and Teddy Bridgewater went back to New Orleans, effectively ending the quarterback market, the Redskins struck up a trade for Case Keenum and might look toward the draft to add someone else.
