Eagles 2019 offseason given an above average grade by ESPN

The Philadelphia Eagles offseason was a momentous one, to say the least, with the Birds hitting on all cylinders in free agency, the draft all while retaining their own core group. Add in trades for DeSean Jackson and Jordan Howard, and you can see why Howie Roseman received a promotion for his work.

With training camp set to open in late July, the Eagles have a new deal in place for Carson Wentz and the most talented roster in all of the NFL. Now ESPN’s NFL Nation is rating each teams offseason and the Birds fans can be happy, landing an above average ranking.

Offseason goals: Set up quarterback Carson Wentz for success. They added a deep threat receiver in DeSean Jackson, bolstered the backfield by drafting Miles Sanders and trading for Jordan Howard, and spent their first-round pick on left tackle Andre Dillard. Wentz may never have a supporting cast as talented as this again.

Biggest question still to be answered: Can they generate enough pressure off the edge? Their two most productive defensive ends from a year ago, Chris Long and Michael Bennett, are no longer with the team. With the unit seemingly short on depth, they need big-time seasons from Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett. — Tim McManus

The biggest question mark should be in regards to a depth chart for the secondary, but if the Eagles can provide an elite pass rush off the edge without having to blitz, this should definitely be a special season, especially if Zach Brown can nail down a linebacker spot.

The Eagles were the only NFC East team to land an above average grade.
