Eagle-eyed EastEnders fans excited as they spot returning character in backstage video

EastEnders viewers were of course extensively analysing a new video released by the BBC soap, to get every little detail they could about the show's return.

They noticed some potential changes and major spoilers in the behind-the-scenes clip, which detailed the new ways of filming on set amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Some eagle-eyed viewers noticed a character in one scene who they were not expecting to see.

The moment could confirm the particular character is returning, and that she will appear in scenes alongside Danny Dyer's character Mick Carter.

Recent newcomer Frankie Lewis, played by actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, is the character they believe they spotted in the video.

The discovery left many viewers excited for what was to come, before really knowing what the scenes entailed.

Taking to Twitter, viewers welcomed the move and predicted what it could mean.

One fan said: "I don’t know if it was just me... but I swear I seen Frankie in the behind the scenes video... oh my gosh pls tell me Frankie is gonna be a regular."

Another tweeted: "Ermmm Frankie in E20 with Mick Carter.. I'm intrigued."

A third added: "Frankie coming back!"

Frankie was last seen in Walford helping Callum Highway try to get through to his boyfriend Ben Mitchell, after Ben lost his hearing in the boat crash.

With Frankie being deaf, Callum encouraged Ben to talk with her and learn to communicate through sign language.

Cheeky Frankie was an immediate hit with viewers, after Callum caught her stealing from the Minute Mart.

Her no nonsense attitude gave Ben a run for his money, with viewers hoping to see more of her soon.

Filming was then halted due to the coronavirus pandemic in March, with the soap then going off air in June after running out of episodes.

But the new video appears to reveal Frankie will stick around in Walford after all, with her appearing in scenes alongside Mick.

EastEnders returns to BBC One on Monday September 7.
