Eagle-eyed BGT viewers instantly ‘rumble’ magician’s mobile phone trick

Britain's Got Talent viewers tuned in on Saturday night to watch the second of five semi finals where eight acts battled it out to win the judges' and the public vote.

One of these was London magician Damien O'Brien who wowed judges Amanda Holden, David Walliams, Ashley Banjo and Alesha Dixon with his mind games.

His act bore similarities to his audition as he asked each judge for a different word and later had it already prepared on the screen of his mobile phone.

But when he put his plastic phone in a box and swapped it out for a real iPhone, fans were convinced it had been in the lid of the box, while others guessed someone had changed the phone's background remotely, or that the judges were in on it.

One ventured: "The phone was in the lid of the box #BGT ".

Another tweeted: "Also are we supposed to be impressed by something that can easily be done with a phone by anyone off stage #bgt ".

Another thought the judges were in on the act, tweeting : "Hence why you can see her putting something (her phone) in her pocket when she says the date. #BGT ".

"Poor magic trick. The answer was in the fake top step of the ladder bought on by the stage hand #BritainsGotTalent," wrote another.

"Screen sharing boring... Remote printer, slight of hand to put in tube... Boring" penned a fifth.

But the judges raved over charismatic Damien's performance, which ended with a mind-boggling trick where the words were written on a piece of a paper in a box that had been suspended over the stage for the whole performance.

Alesha gushed: "That is genuinely freaking me out, sometimes with magic acts you can figure it out, but with that I am gobsmacked.

"I am super impressed, that will bug me all night now, well done, it was really impressive."

Amanda added: "I could tell you were nervous when you got started, but it got better and better and it went really well."

Ashley remarked: "Last time I saw you you performed at my wedding! It blew my mind, you really stepped up."

He admitted he got bored at the start of the act, calling it "kind of impressive but not great", but went on to gush about the end of the act.

"You have magical powers, please use those powers for good for evil," said David.

"Because if you can do that you can genuinely take over the world.

"It was a great act, the surprises kept coming, it was really impressive, well done."
