Eager Liam Payne fans queue up hours before his album signing in Newcastle

Keen Liam Payne fans are queuing well ahead of his arrival in Newcastle.

The former One Direction member and famous ex-boyfriend of Geordie star Cheryl has just released his debut solo album LP1 and will sign copies of it on the day of its release.

The 26-year-old will be at HMV in Eldon Square on Friday afternoon with access to the signing by wristband only. And there looks like there will be no shortage of takers to meet Liam in Newcastle as seven hours before he is due to arrive at the store, fans started to queue up.

The crowd control barriers are up outside HMV, stretching along past Superdry and it looks like they're going to be needed if the early turnout is anything to go by.

Since going solo Liam has enjoyed chart success with tracks like Strip That Down, Familiar, Polaroid and Rita Ora collaboration For You , all of which are on LP1, alongside his recently released festive track All I Want For Christmas.

If you want to attend the signing you'll need to get a wristband in advance. Album and wristband bundles had been available to pre-order via  the HMV website but that has now ended.

Limited bands are available to pick up in store today but you're advised to get in quick.
