EA FC 26 Update 1.0.3 Patch Notes: Kick-Off Goal Nerf, PC Fixes & More

The second major patch for FC 26 is live right now on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 1, and PC. Nintendo’s Switch 2 hasn’t received the update yet, but you can expect one relatively soon this week. Update 1.0.3 consists of some major tweaks, and we already talked about the predicted changes for fixing kickoff goals

The previous patch for FC 26, Update 1.0.2, was a bit more significant than today’s patch. Update 1.0.2 fine-tuned Low Driven shots, AI attacking was tweaked quite a bit, and connection/stability issues were fixed for Ultimate Team. Update 1.0.3 is more modest in comparison, but it fixes one of the biggest issues people have had with FC for years: kickoff goals.

Here’s a look at the complete patch notes straight from the horse’s mouth:

Gameplay

  • The defending team will now position itself more compactly for a short period of time after a kick-off.
  • Updated positions of defending players before kick-off for all formations.
  • Reduced the accuracy of Acrobatic shots taken right after a Rainbow Flick.
  • Addressed instances of players taking a Trivela Shot at the keeper when it could have been more beneficial to perform a lace shot.

In the tweet, EA mentions that it hasn’t made any significant general defending changes apart from making defenders more compact and improving positioning during kickoffs. At least we know that they are listening to feedback, so expect them to address more defender-related feedback in later updates.

They’re also reducing the viability of more “sweaty” skill moves, such as reducing accuracy for acrobatic shots immediately after a Rainbow Flick, making the combination less overpowered. All these changes are welcome and will undoubtedly lead to a more skill-based and enjoyable competitive experience.

Ultimate Team

Ultimate Team players have had their fair share of problems with FC 26 — connection issues, problems with claiming Premium Pass, and Incorrect Bios. All of this has been fixed.

  • Incorrect Bios could have appeared on Gold Player Items.
  • The Season 1 Premium Pass previously required Ultimate Edition players to restart the game to claim it.

Career Mode

Apart from the one change below, you can also expect better optimization for Career Mode on PC and a couple of smaller bug fixes.

  • After signing a new contract, players could have acted unhappily, leading to a notification about a lack of contract offer and eventually leading to a transfer request.

General, Audio, And Visual

There have been a host of improvements and bug fixes relating to graphical, audio, and general quality-of-life elements. Here are the full changes:

  • [PC Only] Addressed some instances of controllers not responding in gameplay while we continue to investigate your reports on this issue and plan future improvements.
  • [PC Only] Resolution and Display settings could have sometimes reset after closing the game.
  • [PC Only] Optimized cloth physics to reduce impact on performance.
  • [PC Only] Improved performance during corner kicks.
  • [Showcase Only] Addressed instances of launching the game through an invite, not placing the recipient in the match lobby.
  • Addressed various stability issues.
