The biggest fear with any online-dominant video game is that losing the ability to effectively connect and complete games can quickly turn into an untenable situation if the errors persist. Currently, gamers who play EA FC 26 have been forced to deal with a disconnection issue that is hitting attempts to play in the game’s online modes. With the frustration of frequent disconnects, an urgent issue to address, gamers are looking for workarounds.
While it’s not an ideal situation for players to have to take things into their own hands, the folks at Virtual Pro Gaming took to X to share news of an official workaround players can use in the short term while the developers work on a more permanent solution.
How To Fix The Disconnect Glitch For EA FC 26

If you’re struggling with disconnections from the EA servers when trying to play EA FC online, you need to change the crowd quality graphic setting to Medium. While playing with lower graphic settings is a common solution for players experiencing frame rate struggles with their games, and background graphics like the crowd are an excellent place for this, the low setting may actually be harming performance in the case of this glitch.
For gamers less familiar with getting into the weeds with their PC management, the fix will require you to edit some files on your PC to get the game going — however, it’s a simple task that all gamers can accomplish without any advanced experience.
First, pull up the Run dialog on Windows by pressing Win + R. Enter “%localappdata%\EA SPORTS FC 46” and press Enter to open the localappdata folder containing your key EA FC 26 files.
Open the file named “fcsetup.ini” and press Ctrl + F to perform a search in the file, entering “crowd_quality” into the search field. Update the line your search takes you to so that it reads “crowd_quality = 1” then save your file and close it.
Finally, right click on the fcsetup.ini file, choose Properties, and set it to Read-only.
With those changes in place, you should be good to go and free to get playing without fear of online disconnections. Simply boot up EA FC 26 and start playing. Your updates to the fcsetup file will keep the game running on safe quality settings to avoid triggering the glitch and plaguing your next session with more unfortunate disconnects.
