EA Sports have rolled out their compensation of Ice Versus player items in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team after wrongly removing them from packs last week.
At 18:00 GMT on Thursday, December 16, 2021, EA removed the Ice Versus player items from packs despite advertising the promo to remain in packs until 17:59 GMT on Friday, December 17, 2021, leading to thousands of FIFA 22 players packing the base items of the Ice Versus player items instead.
This was a major issue for EA with players now demanding compensation for the correct player item in FIFA Ultimate Team, but it seems the issue has now been resolved, with EA confirming that impacted players have been identified and compensated.
Ice Versus player items were wrongly removed from packs for at least an hour and many players started to take advantage of EA's mistake and began to open packs with the hope of receiving the base item of an Ice Versus player, as the chances of packing their base item was much higher than their Ice Versus version.
There was also a fear within the FIFA community that if each impacted player was compensated with a tradable Ice Versus player item, it could cause a major market crash, with the Ice Versus version of Gabriel Jesus dropping from around 900,000 coins to less than 500,000 coins on Xbox overnight.
Here's the statement released by EA from their direct communications Twitter account.
"The impacted players have been identified and correct content has been provided in-game'" Said EA via a Twitter post.
"Thanks for your patience while we worked on the resolution."
However, it appears some players have not received full compensation, with many users taking to Twitter to complain that they are still yet to receive the Ice Versus versions of the cards they received in their packs, or that they only received one Ice Versus player, with many others receiving multiple.
It also appears unclear to what EA are currently compensating, with some users having received tradable versions of Ice Versus player items because they packed the Fire Versus version of the player.
At around 20:00 GMT on Thursday night, EA originally addressed the issue with the account highlighting the issue and that it had been fixed.
"We're aware of reports of players receiving the Base version of ICE Versus Player Items'" said EA.
"A fix was made and going forward players will no longer be impacted. We will be reaching out to previously impacted players in-game to provide the correct content. This may take some time."
Some FIFA players were also expecting to be compensated for money and coins spend on packs during the time the Ice Versus player items were removed from packs, but this seems extremely unlikely and unfair - with players yet to be compensated with coins or FIFA Points.
This isn't the first major mistake made by EA in FIFA 22, with the company having to compensate FIFA players with a free, tradable Base Icon item after some players received Mid Icon item's from the untradable Base Icon SBC.
FIFA 22 is the latest game within EA's popular FIFA video game franchise, which was released worldwide on Friday, October 1, 2021. The game is available now on all platforms including Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Stadia and PC.
