E4 Married at First Sight UK viewers turn off over bride's behaviour on first episode

Viewers were left shocked by the behaviour of a contestant on Married at First Sight UK - with many fans switching off the programme. E4 show Married at First Sight UK married three of the seven new couples in the first of its 30-episode run which started on Monday, August 29 and fans are already unhappy.

The new series welcomes 16 singles preparing to marry a complete stranger and producers have hinted that it's set to be bigger than ever with more episodes than before. Married at First Sight pairs single people together based on advice from relationship experts to see if they can make their relationships last. This season is also one of the first to include LGBT+ contestants who joined the hen and stag parties.

The couples will head off on a honeymoon before moving in together later in the series. The relationships will be assessed at weekly dinner parties by experts; Paul C Bunson, Mel Schilling and Charlene Douglas. Each person will be asked if they want to stay or go at the end of the meal.

Viewers were shocked by fellow contestant Whitney as she compared her husband Duka to a shed after revealing she wanted her potential match to 'tower above her.' While at the altar, she also commented that this was 'the worst thing I have ever done in my ****** life."

One viewer wrote: "Whitney signs up to a show where you get married at first sight. Then makes a scene when she has to get married at first sight. Fame hungry comes to mind #MAFSUK"

Another agreed: "Whitney is on a show called Married at First Sight and is moaning that she has to marry someone at first sight? Someone make it make sense. #MAFSUK."

Many viewers switched over after branding the show a 'fake, reality TV mess' after it had changed so dramatically over the seven season run.

One person tweeted: "Good grief enjoyed original format was interesting psychologically Now jazzed up and full of people wanting 5 minutes of social media fame. #MarriedAtFirstSight." Another agreed and commented: "#MarriedAtFirstSight what have you done you’ve taken a brilliant show and turned it into a fake reality TV mess. So disappointed."

Lara is from Nottingham and appeared on the first episode of Married at First Sight (Matt Monfredi / Channel 4)

A Nottingham waitress also appeared in the first episode although she is set to be married later this week. Lara is originally from Canada where she worked as a dancer. She has been divorced twice and hoped that this time it will last. She once had a high-flying, luxury lifestyle where she spent large amounts on clothing but things are very different today.
