E4 Married At First Sight's Gemma 'wanted to die' after cheating groom Matt shamed her

Married At First Sight UK star Gemma Rose have revealed that she "wanted to die" after being 's*** shamed' by cheating groom Matt.

The salon owner, 31, signed up to the show in a bid to find love, but things didn't go to plan as soon her and groom Matt were involved in a huge scandal. Matt conducted an affair with another bride, Whitney, and chaos ensued.

Now Gemma is claiming that during the show, a false narrative came out that she had pleasured herself in a restaurant, admitting the whole thing made her suicidal. She explained how she felt 'trapped' and had been encouraged to stay by show bosses, writes The Mirror.

"It was the worst experience of my life. I felt trapped. We weren't being held hostage but if you said 'I have to go now' – I wouldn't call it manipulation but there was coercion on their side to convince you to stay," she explained.

"I told my mum that I wanted to die. It was horrible. They cut out words and made it look like I was masturbating in a restaurant. My mum told me to carry on being my strong self but I said you would want to die if this was happening to you."

Gemma also opened up about how she felt that her groom Matt had "s*** shamed" her.

She told the Mail: "I feel that Matt s*** shamed me, I feel like the experts did also. He has the same sense of humour as me and made very similar comments on the wedding day, which didn't make the edit."

She also claimed she defended herself on multiple occasions but that it was not included in the final cut, leaving her feeling "disgusted, as she concluded: "E4 is not allowed to manipulate a storyline like that so I will be taking it further."

Channel 4 said in a statement: "Married at First Sight UK episodes are carefully put together and we ensure that what we broadcast is a fair and accurate reflection of the events that unfolded."

In last night's episode, both Gemma and Matt and Whitney and Duka decided to leave the show during the commitment ceremony, but Matt and Whitney asked if they could continue their journey as a new couple.

"For my dignity and for women that have been treated that way I’m definitely saying leave," Gemma said as she insisted she would be leaving the experiment, as fans rushed to social media to praise her for her strength.
