E-Scooter rider ‘knocks old lady on crossing in Hampstead Road’

An e-Scooter rider reportedly knocked over an old lady at a pedestrian crossing in a video police have said they are aware of.

The e-Scooter rider was said to have knocked over the woman, believed to be in her 60s, at a crossing in Hampstead Road, Camden at around 5pm on Friday.

A passer-by then tried to hit the rider off his scooter with his umbrella in a desperate to prevent him from fleeing the scene.

In the footage, the man - who tried to intervene - was then punched in the face and sent to the floor by the rider.

The rider quickly hopped back on the e-Scooter before scooting away.

Other people nearby rushed to help the elderly lady to her feet.

Police said they are aware of the mobile phone video but said no victims have so far come forward to the force to report a crime.

A witness told the Standard: “The guy on the scooter knocked the old lady down as she walked on a pedestrian crossing.

“She was in shock and couldn’t speak. She was bleeding from the mouth and had tarmac rush on her face.”

A Met spokesman said: “We are aware of the video and are assessing its contents. We ask anyone who has been a victim or anyone with information to call police on 101 ref 6121/29oct or tweet @MetCC.”
