E.J. Liddell named Co-Big Ten player of the week

Ohio State forward E.J. Liddell has been tearing it up this season, taking even a further step in his development from one that took a giant leap last year. He kept things cranking against Wisconsin this weekend too, leading all scorers in the game with a career-high 28 points. He also hauled down eight rebounds and blocked two shots in leading the Buckeyes to a blowout win over a ranked Badgers squad 73-55.

This came after a 15 point performance against Towson earlier in the week.

For his efforts, the 6-foot, 7-inch junior was named the Big Ten’s Co-Player of the Week on Monday. It’s Liddell’s first weekly award this season, a year in which he’s averaging 20.6 points per game. He has scored 20 or more points five times and has tallied three or more assists in six of the 10 games. He also leads the country in free throws attempted with 74 so far on the year.

Liddell shared the honor this week with Purdue’s big man, Trevion Williams. Ohio State will next take on Kentucky this coming Saturday in the CBS Sports Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada.
