E-fit of robbery suspect issued after man mugged for cash and phone in Newton Aycliffe

An e-fit image of a robbery suspect has been issued after a man was attacked for his phone and cash in Newton Aycliffe.

A 32-year-old man was walking along the old railway line when he was attacked by two men at the crossroads with Groat Drive and Clarence Green in the County Durham town.

The suspects made off with man's cash and his mobile phone.

The victim was not injured but has been left shaken by the robbery , which happened between 6.30pm and 7pm on Friday.

One of the suspects is described as being around 40, white and 6ft 2ins. He is of medium build with very short, greying hair, stubble and shadows around his eyes.

He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. An e-fit image has been created in the hope that somebody will recognise him.

A Durham Constabulary spokesman said: “We would like to speak to anyone who recognises this man, or was in the area at the time of the incident.”

Please call Durham Constabulary on 101 and ask to speak to South Durham CID, quoting incident number 423 of August 30.

Information can also be passed on to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
