E-commerce lighting specialist expands after Humber crossing

Low-energy lighting specialist LED Save has opened the doors to a new warehouse facility, crossing the Humber from Hull to Barton as part of an ongoing expansion of the e-commerce business.

The new 15,000 sq ft base is described as an “engine for economic growth” with plans to expand the workforce as it doubles the stock it can hold, in doing so supporting UK-based manufacturing.

LED Save’s managing director, David Segal, said he is excited to see the economic benefits of the move to North Lincolnshire.

“Business owners are looking to reduce long term electricity costs while helping the environment by replacing old inefficient conventional lights in commercial buildings and office spaces with LED lighting,” he said. “LED lighting really is the way of the future and now with our upscaling of production, we’ll be able to meet the needs of the community for many years to come.

“Hopefully, with the lockdown slowly lifting, we’ll be able to bring additional home-based suppliers on board. We have always been focused on supporting UK-based manufacturers.”

LED Save is approaching a decade in business, and has completely restored the former engineering workshop on Humber Road.

A total of 660 sq m of asbestos had to be removed, as well as a 20 tonne overhead crane ahead of setting up for operations, and the move from Global Business Park off Hamburg Road.

A jumbo stud high bay partition wall has also been installed with further work ongoing on office space.

“The transformation of the new warehouse into a purpose-built facility has been nothing short of remarkable,” co-director Marc Edgar said.

“With the heavy industrial work complete, the team focused on the beautification of the space - including painting and industrial floor cleaning before the move-in date.”
