E-Campaigns Boost Saudi Efforts to Combat Covid-19

Saudi Arabia has intensified its awareness-raising efforts to deal with the novel coronavirus, and has used the ministries’ electronic platforms to explain the means to prevent the infection.

Intensive qualitative and unconventional awareness campaigns through social media urged citizens to stay at home for their safety, as a precaution against the virus, which has spread throughout the world.

Various means were adopted to raise awareness, including video clips, messages from official accounts, charts and hashtags.

The Ministry of Health has devoted its official account to broadcasting messages by Minister Tawfiq Al-Rabiah in recorded videos, in which he urges the people to follow the precautionary measures against the virus.

The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) also directed all financial institutions working under its supervision to contribute to the awareness campaign and introduce preventive measures to deal with the coronavirus.

A number of ministers joined the campaign. Saudi Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal sent a message through his official account saying: “Great efforts and precautionary and proactive measures taken by the leadership of our beloved country confirmed that the safety of the citizen and the resident is the highest priority.”

The Ministry of Commerce, for its part, chased those committing violations with the prices of sterilizers and masks, while the Ministry of Information helped the Ministry of Health in following up on the latest developments of the disease.

The Public Prosecution announced issuing arrest warrants against those who spread rumors about the coronavirus, through a dedicated hashtag (#we_are_all_responsible).

The Ministry of Human Resources distributed guidelines for teleworking after suspending attendance in all sectors in the country. The Ministry of Education implemented several campaigns, including #Remote_Teaching.
