E-bike allegedly used to perform burnout in viral footage from shopping centre seized

Police have seized what is believed to be one of the electric motorcycles involved in a viral video of a rider performing a burnout inside a Greenway shopping centre in Tuggeranong.

According to ACT Policing, about 8pm on Monday, June 15, three young people entered the South.Point shopping centre on e-motorbikes.

One of the riders stopped and deliberately conducted a burnout, leaving large marks and damage to the floor near the customer service desk.

Police released the footage seeking information from the public and the video went viral.

Following an investigation into the incident and after receiving information from multiple members of the public, ACT Road Policing officers attended a home in Gordon to execute a search warrant earlier this week.

At the home, they located one of the electric motorcycles believed to have been used in the incident. They also identified a 15-year-old boy who police believe was riding the motorcycle at the time.

Police said the investigation is continuing, with Road Policing officers now focusing on the second rider and motorcycle.

Police continue to seek community information about this or other illegal use of motorcycles and e-rideables in the ACT.

Anyone who can assist police should provide their contact details to Crime Stoppers via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
