Dyson this year launched a range of new cordless stick vacuums, among which was the firm’s latest flagship model V15 Detect Complete.
Aside from the unbeatable cleaning power of the machine, its standout feature is the awesome high-tech new Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head for hard floors.
Cutting-edge tech
The glowing green laser illuminates your surfaces to highlight any particles of dust or dirt that you may have missed. All of them. It is most effective.
And it has been angled in such a way that you don't need to constantly tilt the vacuum up and down to see these particles. This enables cleaning that is both convenient and precise.
There’s more new tech with a digital display that offers a graphical representation of everything the vacuum is sucking up.
This is thanks to a piezo sensor that essentially listens to the dirt.
Performance
But ultimately, all of the dazzling tech counts for nothing unless the V15 Detect sports the same immense cleaning power on which Dyson vacuums have built their reputation.
So it’s pleasing to report that the suction power from the 14 cyclones is outstanding – thanks to 230AW maximum power.
V15 Detect also includes the beastly High Torque cleaning head for everywhere other than your hard floors. It automatically increases the power when in auto mode based on the volume of dirt it detects with the piezo sensor.
And you get the new anti-tangle Hair Screw Tool, which sucks up pet and human hair without entanglement, a standard crevice tool, a crevice tool with LED lights, a combi tool for dusting and surface cleaning and a stubborn dirt brush with stiff bristles.
Be careful not to leave any cables lying around when using the Hair Screw Tool as it will eat them for breakfast.
There is also a docking station and storage clip for handy placement of a couple of your most used tools.
Filtration is one of the firm’s specialities and here it has been improved to the point that 99.9 per cent of particles are removed and trapped by a washable HEPA filter.
Battery life
Battery life is up to 60 minutes in eco mode; this drops if you switch to the boost mode or if you use one of the motorised heads.
The battery is removable so you can pick up an extra power pack from Dyson and keep that fully charged to swap out when necessary.
To charge the battery from empty to full takes about 4.5 hours.
I’ve no need for an extra power pack as I can thoroughly clean every room in my three-bed semi before the V15 needs a recharge.
The 0.77 litre bin takes seconds to empty. It’s big enough for me to only have to empty it after the whole house has been cleaned.
V15 Absolute is a weighty machine at 3kg but you’ll find manoeuvring it easy as the heft is nicely balanced.
Verdict
The innovative Dyson V15 Detect Complete is the most complete and powerful stick vacuum that you can buy.
Its high-tech laser light and digital display take to the next level, but ultimately you are buying this for its extraordinary cleaning power.
