Dyson this year launched a range of new cordless vacuum’s including the V12 Detect Slim Absolute.
This slim and lightweight laser-lit model is like a cross between last year’s powerful V11 Absolute and the new laser-guided beast that is the V15 Detect.
It’s got a smaller dustbin and less powerful engine than the V15, but it’s also easier to manoeuvre and retains many of the flagship model's high-tech features.
And it’s more affordable. It costs €100 less than the V15 Detect Absolute.
V12 also uses a power button instead of the trigger commonly used on Dyson stick vacuums.
New tech on both models is the LCD display which offers a graphical representation of everything the vacuum is sucking up.
This is thanks to a piezo sensor that listens to the dirt.
Also new is the mind-blowing Laser Slim Fluffy head for hard floors which lights up your surfaces to show you any particles of dust or dirt that you may have missed.
The company has angled it in such a way that you don't need to constantly tilt the vacuum up and down to see these particles. This enables cleaning that is both precise and convenient.
V12 also includes the High Torque cleaning head for everywhere and the new anti-tangle Hair Screw Tool, which sucks up pet and human hair without entanglement.
Battery life is up to 60 minutes in eco mode; this drops if you switch to medium or turbo modes.
The battery is removable so you can pick up an extra power pack from Dyson and keep that fully charged to swap out when necessary.
To charge the battery from empty to full takes about 4.5 hours.
I’ve no need for an extra power pack as I can fully clean every room in my three-bed semi before the V12 Slim Detect needs a recharge.
Suction power is outstanding – like a souped-up V11 – and it’s reactive so it increases automatically when the piezo sensor encounters areas with more dirt.
If you want the best of the V15 with a slimmer form factor, the V12 Slim Detect is one capable stick vacuum that does everything you ask of it.
