Dyson, the vacuum cleaner manufacturer, plans to create 350 jobs for engineers and scientists, according to the Guardian. The company is looking for a range of graduates with the specialist skills to work on new and existing products such as the Airblade hand-dryer at its Wiltshire headquarters.
Sainsbury's has launched a recruitment scheme which will offer 100 jobs to the unemployed. The Sainsbury's Supplier Trainee Partnerships, launching in July, will see the retailer join forces with its construction, engineering, facilities management and retail suppliers to provide training opportunities for people in trades that suffered during the economic downturn. Successful applicants get a 12-month paid contract to work on projects such as building new stores and redeveloping existing sites. Due to expansion, community care provider Domestic Care is creating 30 jobs, reports the Belfast Telegraph. The new roles have been created following the acquisition of First Class Care, backed by funding from Ulster Bank. The new staff will be working to provide community meals and domiciliary home care to elderly residents in Belfast, North Down, South and East Antrim and the former Causeway trust area.
Construction and mining equipment manufacturer Caterpillar is creating 300 jobs to meet a rise in orders, reports BBC News. The jobs, on the manufacturing floor, will increase the workforce at its Desford plant in Leicestershire by about a third.
Land Rover is also adding to the pool of manufacturing opportunities and has announced 275 temporary jobs at its manufacturing plant in Solihull, West Midlands, according to Recruiter. The firm is looking for skilled manufacturing workers due to increased demand for its 2010 models.
