Dynamo Kyiv vs Crystal Palace LIVE!
Crystal Palace made an impressive start to their Conference League campaign by beating Dynamo Kyiv 2-0. It was a remarkably composed performance from the Eagles, who were playing the league or pool stage of a European competition for the first time but showed none of the nerves one might have expected. They dominated possession from the off but struggled to create shooting chances.
Until, that is, a looping Daniel Munoz header nodded Yeremy Pino’s cross home at the back post to open the scoring right on the half-hour mark. The second came shortly after half-time, as Eddie Nketiah fired home from close range mere moments after having another goal ruled out for a marginal offside. Palace’s comfortable win threatened to unravel as Borna Sosa picked up a brace of bookings just two minutes apart and was dismissed, leaving the Eagles a man down for the last quarter of an hour.
Dynamo pressed on in search of an unlikely comeback, invigorated by their new advantage, but could not find a breakthrough. They finished the match with a solitary shot on target. Catch up with the action as it happened below with our dedicated match blog, complete with expert insight and analysis from Standard Sport’s Sam Tabuteau.

Sam Tabuteau reports

HALF TIME: Dynamo Kyiv 0-1 Crystal Palace
18:36 , Arthur FerridgePalace lead by one at half, but how many could they have scored in the opening 45 minutes? It should really be at least two or three, but they’ll be happy enough with a one-goal advantage.
Dynamo Kyiv 0-1 Crystal Palace
18:35 , Arthur Ferridge45+4mins: Kamada goes on a wonderful run, carving through the middle of the pitch, but his shot lets him down. What could have been.

Dynamo Kyiv 0-0 Crystal Palace
17:56 , Arthur Ferridge10mins: It is an ill-advised shot from Brazhko, who really should know better from that distance - closer to 40 yards than 30. His first effort hits Mateta, but the rebound falls kindly. He rifles it into the stands at the second time of asking.
Dynamo Kyiv 0-0 Crystal Palace

The Palace unbeaten run
17:30 , Arthur FerridgePalace will, of course, be out for a win today, but chief among their priorities this evening will be preserving their now 18-match unbeaten run.
After beating Liverpool at the weekend, who is to say who will be the ones to end it?
Dynamo, though, will also be out to be the first team to beat Palace since Newcastle United in April.
Yarnmoklenko vs Crystal Palace
17:25 , Arthur FerridgeAndriy Yarmolenko faced Crystal Palace on four occasions while representing West Ham and won twice - but he has never scored.
Does that change tonight?

Wait, how did we get here?
17:10 , Arthur FerridgeHow did Crystal Palace get to this stage of the Conference League? Its a longer answer than you might expect.
They initially qualified for the Europa League by winning the FA Cup, but were demoted after being deemed to have too close a relationship to other clubs owned by John Textor.
The decision was upheld after appeal, and Palace accepted their place in the third tier of UEFA competition.
They beat Fredrikstad 1-0 over two legs in a play-off to confirm their berth in the Conference League proper.
Around the grounds
17:05 , Arthur FerridgeThere is plenty of other European action tonight.
In the other early Conference League kick-off, Kuopion Palloseura host FC Drita of Kosovo in what is sure to be a memorable tie.
There is Europa League action aplenty, with Nottingham Forest hosting Midtjylland.
Humble Crystal Palace set for historic night as European journey begins
16:55 , Arthur FerridgeCrystal Palace may be 18 games undefeated and fresh from beating the reigning Premier League champions, yet they are approaching their first-ever major European fixture with the same humility that has underpinned their success under Oliver Glasner, writes Sam Tabuteau.
Glasner is a figure of quiet authority, just like his captain Marc Guehi, and the pair, while not hiding their ambitions, understand Palace have proven nothing yet on the European stage.
Previous success in winning the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022 means nothing to Glasner, while for Guehi talk of a collapsed Deadline Day move to Liverpool is immaterial with his full focus on leading Palace into their Conference League opener against Dynamo Kyiv in Poland.
“It’s very easy to keep them level and on the floor. No player has wings, they can’t fly,” Glasner quipped, the occasion befitting of a reference to the fated Icarus.
Sam Tabuteau reports
16:46 , Arthur FerridgeTwo changes for Palace as Sosa and Hughes come in for Mitchell and Sarr. Mateta leads the line fresh from his maiden France call up. A historic evening whatever the result for Palace tonight.

Mateta earns his first international call-up

Can he mark the occasion with a goal for Palace today?

Familiar face in the opposition?
16:15 , Arthur FerridgeFormer West Ham winger Andriy Yarmolenko is expected to line up on the left flank for Dynamo Kyiv this evening, but he is remarkably unsentimental about it.
Speaking pre-match, the Ukrainian veteran said: “Crystal Palace play quality and aggressive football. We’ve watched many of their matches and we know their strengths. But first and foremost we need to focus on our own game – we have our own style and objectives. I’m confident that the players who step onto the pitch tomorrow will give everything to achieve a positive result.
“There’s no point looking back at what Crystal Palace were like back [when I played for West Ham]. Players change, coaches change. This is a completely different team compared to the one I faced during my time in the Premier League.”
Wantaway Glasner?
16:05 , Arthur FerridgeThere is a very slim chance that Oliver Glasner does not see out this campaign with Crystal Palace.
Widespread reports claim that he is keen on the Man United job should Ruben Amorim be relieved of his duties.
His contract with Palace expires at the end of the season.
Standard Sport prediction
15:56 , Arthur FerridgeBoth teams are in good form heading into this European tie and will want to make a flying start to their Conference League campaigns.
Kyiv have the edge when it comes to experience in European competitions, but Palace’s 18-game unbeaten run should not be taken lightly. Therefore, we think a share of the points is the most likely outcome.
Draw, 1-1.
Dynamo Kyiv early team news
15:45 , Arthur FerridgeKyiv will be without Senegal international Samba Diallo as the 22-year-old has not been registered in the club’s Conference League squad.
That said, the winger has been out of favour so far this season, so his absence is not too much of a surprise.
Central defender Denys Popov is doubtful with a calf injury that has seen him miss the last six games in a row across all competitions.
Crystal Palace early team news
15:35 , Arthur FerridgeSummer signing Walter Benitez looks set to miss out again as a result of a dislocated finger.
Cheick Doucoure is a long-term injury absentee, though may be back in action next month. Meanwhile, Chadi Riad is still a couple of weeks away from a return to action and youngster Caleb Kporha is also still sidelined.
Yeremy Pino and Ismaila Sarr both came through the Liverpool game unscathed and are therefore in contention to start in attack alongside Jean-Philippe Mateta.
