Uefa has opened disciplinary proceedings against Dynamo Kyiv after Tuesday’s 0-0 Champions League draw against Chelsea.
European football’s governing body confirmed in a statement on Thursday that the Ukrainian champions are facing three charges, including one of racist behaviour by supporters at the Olympic Stadium. Footage of an apparent attack on four black fans was obtained by the anti-discrimination network Fare, and passed to Uefa’s disciplinary body.
Piara Powar, executive director of Fare, told the Guardian: “This terrible incident reflects many of the continuing realities of football in central and eastern Europe. A report has been made to Uefa, who have regulatory responsibility for the match, and we will be lobbying for the strongest sanctions.”
Dynamo have also been charged with crowd disturbances and blocking stairways during the match.
Uefa fined Dynamo €15,000 and ordered them to close part of their stadium in March after racist behaviour by fans towards Everton players during a Europa League game.
The control, ethics and disciplinary body will deal with the case on 27 October.
