Dynamo Kyiv announce ‘Match for Peace’ charity friendlies against Barcelona and other European giants

Dynamo Kyiv have announced plans to play a number of top European clubs, including Barcelona, to raise money for those affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

As the war nears its third month, the Ukrainian Premier League remains suspended with the national team’s World Cup play-offs postponed until June.

On Monday, Kyiv confirmed several charity matches to be played with the likes of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, held between April and June.

A statement read: “All these matches will be held under the slogan: ‘Match for Peace! Let's Stop the War!’.

“The purpose of these matches is to inform the international community about the terrible war in Ukraine and to raise funds to support Ukrainians who suffered from the war with the Russian aggressor.

“Dynamo Kyiv will show the world that the Ukrainian people want peace and freedom by defending their own state in the war with the Russian aggressor-occupier.

“The project will also involve stars of Ukrainian art who will support the charitable mission of our club.”

Borussia Dortmund, Steaua Bucharest, Legia Warsaw, AC Milan, Benfica, Ajax, Sporting CP and Basel have also been earmarked for the friendly series, which as yet does not include any English clubs.
