Dylan Reid gets Celtic transfer revival as deal 'back ON' for St Mirren kid

Celtic have reportedly revived their interest in St Mirren teenager Dylan Reid after he snubbed their advances earlier in the window.

Football Scotland report that a deal is back on the table with Celtic lodging a second bid to bring him in before the window closes on Thursday. 17-year-old Reid had opted to stay at St Mirren when the Hoops had a bid accepted earlier in the summer but it's now understood they will try again and are optimistic of making it happen.

Reid had hoped to force his way into Stephen Robinson 's first-team and continue his development at the SMISA Stadium. But he hasn't started a single game this season, making two substitute appearances in the Premier Sports Cup and is yet to be used at all in the Premiership. Celtic may be hoping to use that as a bargaining chip to convince him to move to Parkhead, where he would initially be expected to play with their B-team in the Lowland League.

It's claimed Ange Postecoglou 's team will do everything they can to make a deal happen before the deadline with Reid viewed as a promising long-term prospect. They face competition from down south with several unnamed teams believed to be keen.

But Celtic will hope their status as Premiership champions and record of youth development will convince Reid to make the switch to Parkhead. They had earlier bid £125,000 for his services which was accepted by Saints, with Reid out of contract in 2023.
