Dying woman found in house at centre of Bathgate murder probe weeks before man died in ‘disturbance'

A dying woman was discovered in a Bathgate house at the centre of a murder probe just weeks before the latest death.

Police are currently investigating after Keith Allan, 42, died after an alleged ‘disturbance’ at the property in Falside Crescent on Monday, July 5.

Following a post mortem, officers are now treating the latest death as murder with a 32-year-old charged in connection.

He is due to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Horrified neighbours told how the incident kicked off in the garden of the property at around 8pm.

It followed reports of a man seen in the area allegedly carrying an axe or a hammer.

It has now been revealed that officers were called over a previous death at the property on June 8.

A 51-year-old woman was taken to hospital from the home but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal by officers.

The Record understands she took her own life.

A statement from the force said: “We were made aware of the sudden death on Tuesday, 8 June of a 51-year-old woman who was taken to hospital from a property on Falside Crescent in Bathgate.

“There were no suspicious circumstances and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

It is understood that the latest tenants of the property had only moved in weeks earlier.

Of the latest death, Detective Inspector Brian Manchester said: “Our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone affected by this tragic incident.

“Local residents may continue to see a police presence in the area but this is being treated as a contained incident and there was no risk to the wider public at any time.”
