Dying Light owners now automatically get the Enhanced Edition upgrade for free

Anyone that owns the original Dying Light is getting the Enhanced Edition at no additional charge. Yup, even us peasants that only bought the Standard Edition years ago.

On Thursday, Techland announced that Patch 1.49 for Dying Light will make The Following expansion and four major DLC packs for free. That includes goodies like The Bozak Horde, Cuisine & Cargo, Crash Test Skin Pack, and the Ultimate Survivor Bundle. Think of it as a Game of the Year Edition that materialized out of thin air. Perfect timing for those PS5 and Xbox Series X|S new-generation graphical tweaks.

If you already own the Enhanced Edition of Dying Light, tough break — no freebies for you. Well, the Tolga and Fatin event is going on right now, at least. The enigmatic twins need you to chop down several special zombie types under certain conditions. It’s not much, but what else can we expect from a seven-year-old game.

Unlike Dying Light‘s sprawling city of Harran, The Following is all about fleeing from zombies in the countryside. It’s well worth checking out, especially if turning the undead into dune buggy hood ornaments sounds appealing.

The Dieselpunk DLC is the only significant piece of content missing from Dying Light‘s Enhanced Edition, probably since it’s brand new. That addition costs $9.99 for anybody (ahem) dying for more.
