Dying cyclist has bike stolen after being hit by car in hit and run incident

A cyclist who died on the road after being struck by a car had his bike stolen by someone in a second vehicle that drove past minutes later.

Nicholas James Mruk, 24, was struck and killed on a road northwest of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Police and medical workers were called on Monday evening after someone reported a crash.

Emergency workers found Mruk and pronounced him dead at the scene, according to Allen County Sheriff’s department.

An autopsy the next day found Mruk had died from blunt force trauma after he was hit by a car, as reported by Wane.com

It was a hit and run incident, investigators said.

He had been cycling when he was killed, they added, and a second vehicle drove past him that evening, took his bike and continued on its way.

The second vehicle was possibly a dark-colored minivan, police said.

They have not released a description of the first car or any other information.
