Dwyane Wade Issues Bold Response After Paul Pierce Compared Their Careers

Paul Pierce recently compared his own NBA career with that of legendary shooting guard Dwyane Wade. During a July appearance on the talk show It Is What It Is, Pierce indicated that his career was not appreciated by NBA fans and claimed that if he played under the same circumstances as Wade, he’d have multiple championships to show for it.

On Tuesday, Wade made a guest appearance on the Dan Le Batard Show, during which he issued a ruthless response to Pierce’s remarks, suggesting he’s “living rent free” in the former Celtics star’s head.

“Listen, rent is expensive in America, and I’m living rent free right now. So let him keep—I like living rent free,” said Wade when asked if he ever wanted to tell Pierce to “shut the f— up.”

“This is why I love the media. … It’s documented. I don’t need to say anything. Everything is documented. So, I’ll let you guys go ahead and talk about all that stuff. It sounds better coming from y’all than me,” Wade said. “I’m done playing the game of basketball. I’m not comparing myself to someone who’s not playing the game, or who is playing the game.”

In Pierce’s initial remarks, he claimed that he’d have a far more decorated career if he’d had the same caliber teammates as Wade.

Wade went on to describe his teaming up with LeBron James and Chris Bosh on the Heat as getting “my Avengers,” after being the focal point of opposing defenses for multiple years.

“I’m happy with my career. I don’t know who’s not happy with theirs, but I’m sorry if you’re not. But I’m happy with the way mine went,” concluded Wade.

Wade was a 13-time All-Star and three-time NBA champion throughout his 16-year career in the league. When it comes to comparing his body of work to that of Pierce’s, Wade indicated he had no interest in that debate.
