Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union voted for Klay Thompson for All-NBA Team

The All-NBA Teams often are controversial due to guys being snubbed and everybody making a case for their guy. But for Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson, missing the team means missing out on a supermax contract.

Thompson, who averaged 21.5 points and 3.8 rebounds this season, missed out on all three of the All-NBA Teams and therefore does not qualify for the supermax contract. He is a free agent this offseason so that extra $30 million would have been very helpful.

Miami Heat future Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade, who averaged 15 points, four rebounds and 4.2 assists in his final season before retiring, received a vote for the second team — a vote that was taken away from Thompson. If you ask Wade and his wife, Gabrielle Union, they would have rathered the vote go to the Warriors sharpshooter.

While Wade is certainly one of the all-time great players in NBA history and headed to the Hall of Fame, when player contracts are on the line, a vote like this should go to a more deserving player, like Thompson, and it sounds like Wade and Union did their part to try to make that happen.

At the end of the day, Thompson will be playing in his fifth straight NBA Finals on May 30 and going for his fourth ring when the Warriors face off with either the Milwaukee Bucks or the Toronto Raptors. He will be perfectly fine with another championship ring.
