DWP: Universal Credit payment dates for August bank holiday 2021 confirmed

With August bank holiday fast approaching, some claimants could see changes to their Universal Credit payments.

The monthly payment, which is soon to be cut by £20 per week, continues to be a vital lifeline for millions of people around the country.

However, there is always an element of uncertainty when it comes to the bank holidays, as payments are sometimes made and processed in different timeframes.

For that reason, the Department for Work and Pensions has clarified when people will receive their cash, Bristol Post reports.

Universal credit claimants will be paid their money on their usual date in August, unless their usual payment date runs over the bank holiday weekend (August 28 - 30).

If your usual payment date does fall on that weekend, you should receive your money on the Friday, August 27, according to the DWP.

This is the same arrangement for any regular, non-bank holiday weekend, whereby claimants are paid on their regular payment date if it's a weekday, or the Friday before if it falls on the weekend.
