DWP to pay Universal Credit, PIP and other benefits early next week

Universal Credit, PIP and other benefits will be paid early for some next week by the Department for Work and Pensions.

You'll be paid prior to a bank holiday or weekend if your payment falls on that date.

Universal Credit and PIP are affected by the change, but it may be different for those claiming Tax Credits or Child Benefit.

The DWP has now released a list of revised Christmas and New Year pay dates on the GOV.UK website, which we have outlined below.

Universal Credit payment dates during Christmas and New Year

Here is everything you need to know about Universal Credit payment dates that fall over the festive period, reports Cornwall Live.

  • Payment due on Thursday, December 24 : No change

  • Payment due on December 25, 26, 27 or 28: Thursday, December 24

  • Payment due on December 29: No change

  • Payment due on December 30: No change

  • Payment due on December 31: No change

  • Payment due on January 1, 2021: Thursday, December 31

  • Payment due on January 4, 2021: No change

Other DWP benefit payment dates during Christmas and New Year

These payment dates cover other DWP benefits including PIP, Employment Support Allowance (ESA) and State Pension.

  • Payment due on Thursday, December 24 : Wednesday, December 23
  • Payment due on December 25, 26, 27 or 28: Wednesday, December 23
  • Payment due on December 29: No change
  • Payment due on December 30: No change
  • Payment due on December 31: No change
  • Payment due on January 1, 2021: Thursday, December 31
  • Payment due on January 4, 2021: Thursday, December 31

There are also benefits administered by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) which will be affected if they fall on Monday, January 4 and Tuesday, January 5.

These include Child Benefit and Tax Credits.

Child Benefit payment dates over Christmas and New Year

  • Payment due on Monday, December 28: Thursday, December 24

  • Payment due on Tuesday, December 29 : No change

  • Payment due on Monday, January 4 2021: Thursday, December 31, 2020

  • Payment due on Tuesday, January 5 2021: Wednesday, January 6, 2021

  • Payment due on December 25: Thursday, December 24

  • Payment due on December 28: Thursday, December 24

  • Payment due on January 1, 2021: Thursday, December 31, 2020
