DWP Easter payment dates for Universal Credit, tax credits and child benefit

Benefits payment dates are set to change around Easter.

There are two bank holidays during the holiday which affects when the government pays various benefits into people's bank accounts.

The good news for you is that these payments will be paid early.

The benefits which will be affected are child benefits, Universal Credit and tax credits.

These benefits are all paid on different dates but all the payments should be in a claimant's account before it's due to be paid.

Here's what you need to know.

Payment dates over Easter 2020

Families who receive child benefits or tax credits will see their money paid out on different dates over Easter.

This will affect people receiving working tax credits, child benefit and other tax credit - although other types of benefit payments should go ahead as normal.

This is when your benefits will be paid instead:

Universal Credit

Universal Credit is a single payment that is generally paid monthly, directly into an account in your name, such as a bank, building society or credit union account.

However, the date varies person-to-person based on when your assessment period ends and when you are paid by your job for people claiming in-work benefits.

If your payment is late, HMRC advises people to check the payment date on their award notice and contact their bank before calling the Tax Credit Helpline on 0345 300 3900.

If in doubt, the tax-man should be your first port of call, as this is the body that manages tax credits and child benefits.
