DWP and HMRC pay date changes for some people on State Pension or benefits due next week

Scheduled State Pension, Universal Credit and Carer's Allowance payments are due to be paid early ahead of the bank holiday next Monday, the DWP has confirmed. The payments will be made instead on Friday, April 28.

The Daily Record also reports Child Benefit and Tax Credits - both paid by HMRC - will also arrive early before the bank holiday on Monday, May 1.

The Jobcentre Plus opening times are different for the bank holidays on May 1 and the King’s Coronation on May 8, the DWP also confirmed. On both Mondays, offices and phone lines will be closed, this means that payments due on May 8 will also be made early, on Friday, May 5, 2023.

DWP payment date changes for May bank holidays

To make sure people get their payment on a day when Jobcentre Plus offices are open, some payments will be paid early:

  • If the expected payment date is Monday, May 1, State Pension and benefits will be paid on Friday, April 28
  • If the expected payment date is Monday, May 8, State Pension and benefits will be paid on Friday, May 5

Payments affected:

  • Attendance Allowance
  • Carer’s Allowance
  • Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income Support
  • Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Pension Credit
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • State Pension
  • Universal Credit

If the expected payment date is not shown, DWP said people will get their money on their usual payment date.
