Dwight Yorke confused by Manchester United's Jadon Sancho transfer strategy

Dwight Yorke says he cannot understand Manchester United's strategy over Jadon Sancho.

The Reds have long chased Sancho this summer but moved onto other targets in the final week of the transfer window as talks with Borussia Dortmund reached an impasse.

Ousmane Dembele is one alternative United have targeted but Yorke is unsure why.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, the former United striker questioned why the club have continued to target attackers in this summer.

Instead, Yorke argued that there are other areas that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be looking to improve.

He said: " Ole’s obviously been very attacking-minded, and adding the likes of Sancho - who he’s been chasing for some time - he would be one that would bring a different level in terms of competition and certainly his creativity.

"Dembele, we know, we’ve seen him play for Barcelona over the years and what he can do.

"Maybe he’s not consistent enough in my eyes, but maybe he needs a new challenge.

"At this point in time, really, I’m not too concerned about our attacking play.

"We’ve got enough firepower there because of what we saw towards the back-end of last season, these guys, scoring frequently, tearing defenders apart, running them ragged, the combinations have been great.

"I really genuinely do not feel our attacking play is an issue, there’s a lot more I should be more concerned about."
