Dwight Howard to Meet With Warriors, per Report

Veteran center Dwight Howard will meet with the Warriors next week to discuss the possibility of signing a deal, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports.

Howard is an 18-year NBA veteran who has played for seven teams in his career, beginning with eight years as a star for the Magic. He last played in the league for the Lakers in the 2021–22 season, appearing in 60 games and producing 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

In his NBA career, Howard has been named an All-Star eight times—the last coming in 2014—and has led the league in rebounding five times.

Last year, Howard was out of the NBA and played for the Taoyuan Leopards in Taiwan’s T1 league, averaging 23.2 points and 16.2 rebounds per game. Despite getting trolled plenty on social media, the veteran had a ton of success overseas and produced multiple highlight-reel performances.

If Howard does sign with Golden State, the Warriors will have as many big names on their team as anyone in the league. The team already added Chris Paul earlier in the offseason, despite Howard’s plea for the point guard to join him in Taiwan

The Warriors currently have Draymond Green and Kevon Looney to fill minutes at center, but could be looking for more experience behind the two. Rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis and veteran Dario Šarić also comprise the team’s frontcourt depth, and Golden State reportedly signed center Usman Garuba to a two-way deal on Friday.
