Dwight Howard believes he should be in the Hall of Fame

Last week, Dwight Howard was a guest on the red carpet of the New York premiere of “Shaft” and had some thoughts on his Hall of Fame status.

Howard is currently a member of the Washington Wizards, but was sidelined for the majority of the season with numerous injuries, including a back injury. The 33-year-old center also suffered a hamstring injury during his recovery period.

It is still unclear what the status of the eight-time NBA All Star is for the coming season. Howard averaged 17.4 points and 12.6 rebounds during his NBA career.

While at the “Shaft” premiere, Howard was asked by a reporter if he is a Hall of Famer:

“I think I’ve done an excellent job of playing basketball my whole life. My resume is something I don’t really have to speak, for I’m happy to have to play basketball. I think I have done an excellent of playing and I don’t know. It is not up to me, but I think one day I’ll get the recognition that I deserve. Until then I am going to continue to get better and continue to smile and enjoy life.”

Howard was a member of the Houston Rockets from 2013-16 before deciding to opt out of his four-year deal and leaving almost $23.3 million dollars on the table. Since then, he has played for the Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets before signing a two-year/$11 million contract with the Wizards in July 2018.

Howard is five-time All-Defensive Team member and has also won the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award three times.
