Dwight Gayle's dive against Nottingham Forest proves extra costly for West Brom striker

Dwight Gayle cheating against Nottingham Forest could prove to be extra costly for the West Bromwich Albion striker.

West Brom boss defends Dwight Gayle as Nottingham Forest fans delight in his dismissal in Albion's 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa in the first leg of their Championship play-offs semi-final tie.

That carries an automatic one-match ban. However, the Express and Star report Gayle will now miss an extra game after being previously banned for successfully deceiving a match official earlier in the season.

The on-loan Newcastle United striker was punished in February for an 89th-minute dive to win a penalty against Forest.

Jay Rodriguez scored the resulting spot kick to make it 2-2 and deny Forest the win.

Gayle's season is now over even if West Brom manage to make the final at Wembley.

Reds supporters expressed their belief in karma following Graham Scott's decision to send Gayle off at Villa Park.
