Dwight Gayle 'offered' to Championship clubs as Nottingham Forest linked with £5m ace

CHAMPIONSHIP CLUBS OFFERED GAYLE

Newcastle United have 'offered’ Dwight Gayle to clubs in the Championship, despite Steve Bruce claiming he would not be dropping into the second tier this month.

Gayle is wanted by Nottingham Forest and former club West Brom, with both Midlands rivals desperate to add firepower to their respective promotion bids.

FOREST JOIN RACE FOR FREEMAN

Luke Freeman is another name thrown into the pot of possible arrivals at Nottingham Forest this month.

The Sheffield United frontman has failed to pin down a regular place in Chris Wilder’s Premier League newboys, which has increased speculation that he could be keen on moving in search of first team football.

Boss Sabri Lamouchi says rising Nottingham Forest star Alex Mighten can earn his chance in the Championship this season.

The 17-year-old has made two appearances in the Garibaldi so far, both in cup competitions.

His debut came as a substitute against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup back in September, and he was then handed his first start in the FA Cup defeat to Chelsea little more than a week ago.

BEN OSBORN'S FRANK ADMISSION

Ben Osborn is determined to stay and fight for his place at Sheffield United, as he waits for his first Premier League start of the season.

Osborn joined the Blades from Nottingham Forest in the summer, making the move from the City Ground for a fee understood to be in the region of £3.5m after playing more than 200 games.
