Dwight Gayle looking strong as Jonjo Shelvey grabs the winner in Newcastle United training session

Newcastle United head to Stamford Bridge looking to build on the win over Manchester United by beating Chelsea.

Steve Bruce is hopeful of having a nearly fully fit squad with the head coach only without Matt Ritchie, who is recovering from an operation, and Florian Lejeune.

The United squad welcomed back some of those who had been on international duty over the last two weeks - such as Miguel Almiron - and took to the training pitch at Benton.

There were plenty of smiles on show as the players were put through their paces with the Longstaff brothers looking particularly happy.

The senior squad were joined by Jack Colback and Henri Saivet who continue to play a part in the first team squad despite not actually being named in it.

Jonjo Shelvey celebrated after scoring the winning goal in the training game.

United's young goalkeeper Dan Langley also took part in training.

Meanwhile Dwight Gayle, who made it on the bench for the first time this season for the win over Manchester United, is also seemingly back to full fitness.

Images show the former no.9 getting involved in training, and vollying towards goal in what is surely a positive for Bruce heading into the next run of games.
