Dwight Gayle admits that he could see his future away from Newcastle United

Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle is currently enjoying a loan spell at West Brom - and admits that he could stay at the Midlands club long-term.

Gayle was shipped out to the Baggies in August, and has scored 21 goals this season as West Brom look for promotion to the Premier League.

The Baggies are currently fourth after slipping away from the automatic promotion places but with just four games left have a nine-point cushion over seventh-placed Middlesbrough.

Gayle, who scored a hat-trick against Preston on Saturday, admitted after the game that he could see his future at West Brom.

Asked if he saw himself stay, he said: "Yes, of course.

"I’ve really enjoyed the season and the fans have taken to me and showed great support.

"In the summer, I’m going to see what happens but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here."

Gayle's move to West Brom saw Salomon Rondon head to Newcastle United on loan, with Magpies ' boss Rafa Benitez keen to sign the striker permanently - however the release clause value in the Venezuelan's contract will depend on which division the Baggies are in.

If West Brom achieved promotion, it's reported that Rondon's price will go from £16.5million to around £20m.

West Brom are currently without a permanent manager after the sacking of Darren Moore which could also impact on the destinations of Gayle and Rondon.

Gayle's improved contract - signed just days before his loan move to the Baggies - could also hamper any deal.
