Dwight Freeney suggest Colts should go after Antonio Brown

With the NFL combine coming to an end, the Indianapolis Colts will turn their attention to free agency, which officially begins March 13.

Though he isn’t a free agent, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is on the trading block and while the Colts haven’t been reported as showing interest in the star, legendary pass rusher Dwight Freeney believes he would be a great fit for the offense.

“I think if they get Antonio Brown, that would be a nightmare for any type of defense,” Freeney said on the NFL Network. “You’ve got T.Y. (Hilton), who they already can’t block. Then you get AB there, all of a sudden, where do you roll the coverage? Who do you double?”

Freeney brings up some strong points about what the offense would be like if the Colts actually pulled the trigger on the trade for Brown, but it is more likely general manager Chris Ballard won’t go after the stud wide receiver.

Brown has been followed by drama for the better part of the offseason. He requested a trade from the Steelers and continuously airs out the team’s dirty laundry while calling out quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

With the Colts trying to build a certain type of culture, it isn’t at all clear if Ballard feels Brown would fit in the room. Of course, he will do his due diligence on the dynamic pass catcher, but it is more likely the Colts stay out of that scenario.

The free agent market is set to heat up as the week rolls along. The market officially opens March 13 at 4:00 p.m. ET, and it will be interesting to see if any teams show more interest in trading for Brown.
