DWCS signee Joseph Solecki debuts against Matt Wiman at UFC on ESPN 7

A lightweight clash has been added to UFC on ESPN 7.

Recently signed to the UFC through “Dana White’s Contender Series,” Joseph Solecki (8-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will make his UFC debut when he takes on Matt Wiman (16-8 MMA, 10-6 UFC) in the nation’s capital.

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie following a report from The Washington Post on Thursday. The person asked for anonymity as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

UFC on ESPN 7 takes place Dec. 7 at Capital One Arena in Washington. The card airs on ESPN.

Solecki punched his ticket to the UFC with his victory on DWCS 19 in July. The former CFFC and ROC fighter squared off with Mississippi’s James Wallace in the card’s main event. Solecki made quick work of Wallace with a first-round submission by guillotine choke.

His opponent Wiman will return for what will be just his second contest since November 2014. In June, the fight nicknamed “Handsome” competed for the first time in almost five years at UFC on ESPN+ 12. Wiman was stopped by Luis Pena via strikes in the third round.

The up-to-date UFC on ESPN 7 lineup is as follows:

  • Alistair Overeem vs. Walt Harris
  • Aspen Ladd vs. Yana Kunitskaya
  • Claudia Gadelha vs. Cynthia Calvillo
  • Stefan Struve vs. Ben Rothwell
  • Carlos Condit vs. Mickey Gall
  • Cody Stamann vs. Song Yadong
  • Courtney Casey vs. Virna Jandiroba
  • Bryce Mitchell vs. Matt Sayles
  • Joseph Solecki vs. Matt Wiman
